I always feel better during a holiday or break, no matter how long or short. And I always say to myself “wouldn’t it be great if I could keep that feeling all of the time – even when I am back at work”.
If I was to be completely honest with myself, I don’t believe that is really practical and even possible. However, maybe if I made a point of doing more of the things that made me happy I would be better able to find a balance.
So what is the best way for me to start?
I am going to choose two things each day that I love doing. One at the start of the day and one at the end of the day – and I am going to religiously commit to doing these for the next month.
One of my mentors talks about the importance of those first 60 minutes of the day. He talks about spending that first hour exercising, journaling and establishing your daily priority list.
When I have done this previously I loved it and it gave me such a great boost to my day, but when you allow life to get in the way, things like this can fall away.
So the first thing that makes me happy that I am going to start doing, is spending that first hour of my day exercising, journaling and setting my priorities for the day.
The second thing I am going to do is start getting to bed earlier. I love my sleep and always feel better the next day after an early night, so I am going to start getting to sleep 90 minutes earlier each night.
Feel free to check in with me to see how I am going with this personal commitment. I know I will need some encouragement along the way 🙂
We all deserve to be spending more of our time doing the things that make us happy.
